    Who can become a Member of the NCBIA?

    The NCBIA is an association dedicated to the development of Code Officials. We strive to achieve this by educating our members and others involved in the construction industry. We also are dedicated to the Integrity and Professionalism of Code Officials. That is why we support mandatory continuing education and improving the process for professional certification of Code Officials. In addition to our educational and annual meetings, we provide scholarships for the children of our active members. It is the mission of the association to serve the needs of our members and the public by always striving to improve the quality of enforcement of the codes, which deal with the health, and safety of the public.

    2024 NCBIA Membership

    Membership Classifications

    CLASS OF MEMBERSHIP: There shall be three (3) classes of membership in this Corporation: (i) Inspection Members, (ii) Gold Medal Life Members, and (iii) Associate Members. Our association has several types of members, which makes it possible for anyone to be a member.

    INSPECTION MEMBER: An Inspection Member is a Jurisdiction or unit of government such as the North Carolina Department of Insurance, cities, towns, counties, or other political subdivisions, along with its employees holding a current inspector certification or performing administrative duties to include supervision of building inspections. An inspection member shall assign a single voter designee who holds a current building inspector’s standard certification and is actively engaged in enforcing the building codes. This level of membership has voting rights. Educational seminars and meetings at a reduced rate.

    GOLD MEDAL LIFE MEMBER: A Gold Medal Life Member is a retired Inspection Member who has received the Gold Medal Life Membership Award from the Association.

    ASSOCIATE MEMBER: This class of membership is for all interested parties. We have a lot of design professionals, contractors, as well as trade associations who are associate members. Educational seminars and meetings at a reduced rate.

    What are the benefits of becoming a Member

    You are part of an organization, that exists to represent the code enforcement community and are dedicated to better code standards and enforcement. We provide education for code officials and others who are members at a reduced rate. We provide scholarships for the children of active members. We provide web links to nationally recognized standards and agencies. We keep abreast of legislative issues that may affect our members and support those who are for the betterment of the code process. In addition, we have been known to oppose those that we felt were detrimental to the code process in North Carolina. We work regionally, nationally, and at the state level on code development issues. In short, the NCBIA is involved in many areas constantly trying to improve the code process in North Carolina. All we need to complete our mission is YOU so why not join today?
